Dorothy Stone

August 17, 1917 - October 29, 2015


Dorothy Stone, 98, died on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family will greet visitors on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 3-6 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater with Rev. John Bain officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born on August 17, 1917 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Olin B. Davis and Minnie Dicks. She married Millard Jackson Stone on October 15, 1932 in Stillwater until his death in 1972.

Dorothy was an employee of OSU for 42 years in the food services department. She was well-liked and respected. Dorothy was lovingly referred to as “Stony.” She began her career working at Bennett Hall and then spent the rest of her time with OSU at the Student Union. Dorothy worked until she retired at the age of 75, at which time she moved to Tulsa, OK to be near her daughters. Dorothy loved to fish and read in her free time. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was a member of the Christian Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Jackson Stone, infant son, Fillmore Jackson Stone, and daughter, Patsy Perdue.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dolores Best and grandchildren Dana Brown and David Best, and great-grandchildren Rachel and Zachary. Daughter, Ann Metcalf and son-in-law, Aubrey Metcalf, and grandchildren, Anita, Aubrey Jr., Anthony, and Alan and great-grandchildren Judson, Avery, Ashlyn, Micah, Kaylee, Andrew, and Haley. Son-in-law Donald Perdue and grandchildren from daughter, Patsy Perdue (deceased), Jason, Sherie, Scott, Melinda, and Michael and great-grandchildren Ashley, Jacob, Adrienne, Brandon, Alex, Tyler, Cory, Shelbie, Ryan, and great-great grandchildren Jade and Henry. Daughter, Janet Cameron and son-in-law, Jim Cameron, and grandchildren Jamie and Jimmie and great-grandchildren Emily, Christopher, Conner, Sarah, Maddie, and Jacob.

Pallbearers will be Aubrey Metcalf Jr., Anthony Metcalf, Alan Metcalf, Jason Perdue, Mike Perdue and Alex Perdue.
